The Photographer

Photo: Agnieszka Bojkowska

W hen I was a young kid I used to collect stickers with underwater pictures taken by Jacques Cousteau and Hans Hass. They came within the packages of morning Cereals and I collected them all.

I always dreamt about being able to dive and take pictures of the underwater world - just like them.

As it happened I reached my 37th birthday before I got my diving certificate. From that day my life changed and the same year I bought my first camera and a housing to go with it. It was a relatively cheap SONY DCS-P05 but it gave me a lot of nice shots and a bunch of them actually still stands out as fine pictures.

It took only a few years before I realized that I needed something better. As a person never involved in photography above water, I knew nothing about SLR cameras. I only knew they could take more picture frames in rapid succession and t hat you had more possibilities for manual adjustment. I also knew that SLR cameras were more expensive.

Luckily for me SLR cameras became digital (and affordable) about the same time. I bought a NIKON D70 and I have never looked back since.

The fact that SLR camreras went digital ment that people like my self had the opertunity to learn fast. I admire and have the deepest respect for the underwaater photographers who have taken such fantastic pictures using film. I know now how many rolls of film and numerous dives it must have taken to get it right.

Now I use my NIKON in an Ikelite housing fitted with 2 DS-125 flashguns also from Ikelite. I use mostly my 10,5mm fisheye, 12-24mm zoom wide angle and my 2 macro lenses the 60mm Nikkor and the 105mm Nikkor.

I have decided to share some of my photos from my various dives around the world. I do hope you enjoy the images and should you whish to purchase a few as a poster or for other use, please feel free to contact me on scubapix. You can also view my portfolio published in the danish diving magazine DYK.

Also feel free to write in my guestbook for any comments or suggestions you might have.

And don’t forget – SAFE DIVING
